5 Fact Friday… on a Saturday…

Last week I jumped up and down for having my pictures selected by Shuttersisters.  This week I ended up jumping too, because I found a real gem…  I’m becoming one jumpy lady.

OK, 5 Fact Friday – nr 2

Fact 1 – Too little time, too late to write them down yesterday.  So this is 5FF on a Saturday… Impossible? Maybe, but a fact anyhow.

Fact 2 – Started Susannah Conway’s Unravelling class.  1st Week already gone – another proof that time travels way too fast. Love the class so far

Fact 3 – The first thing that needed unravelling were our feet.  I made a whole feety-photo-story.  Feel free to meet my feet in their daily life.

For those wondering how the first one was taken without drowning my i-Phone… I put the shower head way down low, and held the phone above the water stream… simple! In fact, i was totally dressed when I took it, and my skirt didn’t even get a splash…

Fact 4 – Apartments don’t look – or smell for that matter – good when they haven’t been cleaned or “aired” in 2 whole years….
My son got the keys to his apartment last Monday. And the guy that had lived in it before him, apparently didn’t know that mankind had invented brushes and soap and running water…. Yakky! What a dirty mess he left behind!!
And my 28 year old son admitted: mom comes in “handy” at such moments.
Armed with bleaching water, Dettol, lots (I really mean LOTS) of cloths and sponges… I must have looked like the cleaning lady in hell… turning my son’s apartment into a bright and shining heaven after 3 days of intense scrubbing.
Now my back, my feet, my thighs, my bottom, my hands… and about everything else is hurting, but it’s worth it when I see my son’s bright smile, the shining sink and the first signs of transforming it into his small new home.

My feet... cleaning in my son's apartment.

Fact 5 – Second hand stores are dangerous places for me and my wallet.
I went looking for chairs for my son, but stumbled upon the cutest little, portable, antique typewriter.  A real gem!
I couldn’t leave it there, and what’s more, it was smiling at me… so…
At home, first thing I did was inserting a piece of paper and started typing… Didn’t think it would work, but the little thing kept surprising me: its typing is impeccable!
And the click-a-dee-clack of the hammers tapping the paper sounded so familiar.
Like listening to vinyl instead of cd…

Have a nice weekend – see you next 5 facts on Friday… or Saturday…

PS: Fact 6…. Do you also sometimes feel like throwing WordPress out of the window?!!%%ggrrr***??  This post took me about 2 1/2 hours to get it posted! The d*** thing just wouldn’t put things in its places, refused to accept notes to the photographs… anyone a good alternative?? (tried Blogger – same story – I guess that as long as you don’t pay for your account, they just keep messing with your blog until you get tired, and pay….)

August arrived, time to break

July, August, the traditional holiday months.  No school for the youngsters, everyone has sunny  (normally that is) days off.
I joined Susannah Conway’s August Break, a leisurely, free, “post a day” in real holiday mood.   Want to post a picture? Fine!  Don’t feel like it today?  That’s fine too.
Subject? Doesn’t matter, anything.  How many? One, 5, none….  You see,  the perfect holiday feel.

I thought that it also was a good time to start with a new project: I bought a whole lot of wool and started a patchwork plaid. Heaps of colorful squares needed, no complicated patterns, just grab whatever color lies near me and a crochet.
It’s been years since I did that, but apparently it’s a lot like swimming or riding a bike: once you know how, you keep remembering.  A little “wobbly” at the start, but it all comes back in a sec.
It’s fun! I can take it with me to the fysio-therapist, to my mom’s, in the garden… much like my i-Phone actually.
I thought, I start with it now, then it just might be finished when winter comes.  And then I can cuddle up underneath it… I need about 80 squares, 5 of them ready… 75 to go… piece of cake! And besides, the name of the wool is “Bravo”, nothing can go wrong, I already got my applause!

I took a picture of it that serves two purposes: Susannah Conway’s August Break, and my August Project.

Have a nice August break
